  • from 10.0.0 up to but not including 11.0.0
  • from 1.0.0 up to but not including 7.0.0
Latest safe version
11.0.0 or later. No rule we check matches that release or any newer one.

What we check for

HighCVE-2026-888522026-09-13

Snippets (snippets) 10.0.0 to below 11.0.0 - Authenticated Stored XSS via Snippet Variable Overrides

Regular Labs Snippets 10.0.0 through 10.0.6 is affected by CVE-2026-88852, fixed in 11.0.0 (released 13 September 2026). Snippet variable overrides could be set by any user able to author content, letting a lower-privileged author change the values a snippet renders and inject script through them. 11.0.0 restricts variable overrides to selected article author groups by default. Exploitation requires the ability to author or edit content containing Snippets tags, so this is an authenticated stored XSS. Update to 11.0.0 or later. Note that 11.0.0 is flagged by the vendor as a BC BREAK: the restriction is enabled by default and has to be re-opened deliberately per author group, so any site relying on variable overrides should review those settings after updating. The CVE record was published on 14 September 2026 with a CVSS 4.0 base score of 7.5 (High), vector CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/S:N/AU:N.

Affected versions: ≥ 10.0.0 and < 11.0.0

HighCVE-2026-888522026-09-13

Snippets (snippets) 1.0.0 to below 7.0.0 - Authenticated Stored XSS via Snippet Variable Overrides

Regular Labs Snippets 1.0.0 through 6.9.4 is affected by CVE-2026-88852. Snippet variable overrides could be set by any user able to author content, letting a lower-privileged author change the values a snippet renders and inject script through them. The Free edition stopped being affected at 7.0.0; the Pro edition remained affected through 10.0.6 and was fixed in 11.0.0 (released 13 September 2026), which is covered by a separate rule. Exploitation requires the ability to author or edit content containing Snippets tags, so this is an authenticated stored XSS. Update to 11.0.0 or later, the current release for both editions, and note that 11.0.0 is flagged by the vendor as a BC BREAK: variable overrides are restricted to selected article author groups by default and have to be re-opened deliberately, so any site relying on them should review those settings after updating. The CVE record was published on 14 September 2026 with a CVSS 4.0 base score of 7.5 (High), vector CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/S:N/AU:N.

Affected versions: ≥ 1.0.0 and < 7.0.0

Running Snippets on a site you manage?

A free audit tells you which of your Joomla and WordPress sites run an affected version, which are out of date, and which have not been backed up. No card required. If a site is already compromised, fix.mysites.guru is a single fixed fee per incident, usually resolved the same day.

This check is part of the mySites.guru Joomla vulnerability scanner, which reads every installed extension's version on each audit. Browse the rest of the Joomla vulnerability database.
