What you need first

mySites.guru does not make the backup itself. It tells the backup software on each site when to run, and keeps track of the result. That means each site needs one of these installed:

  • Akeeba Backup Professional for Joomla and WordPress, or Akeeba Solo for other PHP sites. You need an Akeeba Backup Professional licence, bought from Akeeba.
  • All-In-One WP Migration for WordPress, as an alternative to Akeeba.

Backups go to the storage you configure in Akeeba. They are never stored on mySites.guru.

What mySites.guru adds

Backup software on one site is easy to set up. Keeping it running on every site you look after is the hard part.

Unlimited schedules
Give each site as many cron-style schedules as it needs, such as a nightly backup and a weekly one.
Backup All
Start a backup on every site in your current filter at once. Useful before a round of updates.
A daily "no recent backup" alert
Once a day, you are told which sites have gone without a recent backup, so a schedule that stopped running does not go unnoticed for months.
Stalled backups resume
A backup that stalls part way is resumed automatically, without you having to start it again.
Your storage, not ours
Backups go wherever you have configured Akeeba to send them and never pass through mySites.guru storage.

Back up, then update

Updates in mySites.guru do not take a backup for you. Before a batch of Joomla or WordPress updates, filter to the sites you are about to touch and press Backup All.

Backup scheduling is included in every paid plan. It is not part of the free audit. See pricing for the plans.

Common questions

Do I need an Akeeba licence?
Yes. To back up a Joomla or WordPress site through Akeeba, that site needs Akeeba Backup Professional, the paid edition, with its own licence from Akeeba. Other PHP sites use Akeeba Solo. On WordPress you can use All-In-One WP Migration instead.
Where are my backups stored?
Wherever you have configured Akeeba to put them, on your server or in the remote storage you set up in Akeeba. mySites.guru starts and schedules the backups; it never stores them.
How many schedules can a site have?
As many as you like. Each schedule is cron-style, so a site can have a nightly backup, a weekly full backup and anything else you need. How unlimited backup schedules work.
What happens if a backup stops part way?
Stalled backups are resumed automatically. If a site still has no recent backup, a daily alert tells you which one.
Are backups part of the free audit?
No. Backup scheduling is included in every paid plan: £5/month for one site or £19.99/month for unlimited sites. The free audit covers one site, needs no card, and shows where that site stands today.
