Affected versions: ≥ 2.20.4.0 and < 2.20.4.2
Full advisory: our disclosure post
Balbooa released Gridbox 2.20.4.2 on 27 October 2026 to fix two SQL injection flaws, rated Critical by the vendor. The sort order of blog and store post lists was taken from the request and placed into the database query without checking it against the list of allowed sort options, and one of the page editor's post-loading tasks could be called by any visitor without a login and passed its sort order into the same query. Neither needs an account, so an anonymous visitor can read data from the site database. We confirmed both changes by comparing the public 2.20.4.2 package with 2.20.4.1. Balbooa lists Gridbox 2.20.4.1 and earlier as affected; this rule covers 2.20.4.0 and 2.20.4.1, and older versions are flagged by separate Gridbox rules that should also go straight to 2.20.4.2. Reported by Artur Błażewicz, coordinated by the Joomla Security Strike Team. Not a mySites.guru finding. The Joomla CNA published CVE-2026-102788 (SQL injection through the store list sort order, CWE-89) and CVE-2026-102789 (missing authorisation on the editor task, CWE-284) on 27 October 2026, both CVSS 4.0 9.3 Critical, affecting 1.0.0 to 2.20.4.1. Update to Gridbox 2.20.4.2.

Updating for CVE-2026-102788 alone can leave a site on a release another rule still matches. These are the other flaws we check for in the same extension.
Latest safe version: 2.20.4.2
A free audit tells you which of your Joomla and WordPress sites run an affected version, which are out of date, and which have not been backed up. No card required. If a site is already compromised, fix.mysites.guru is a single fixed fee per incident, usually resolved the same day.
This check is part of the mySites.guru Joomla vulnerability scanner, which reads every installed extension's version on each audit. Browse the rest of the Joomla vulnerability database.
